Fabienne Colas Foundation

Description

The Fabienne Colas Foundation (FCF) is the largest organization for Black culture in Canada. Created in 2005, the FCF is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion in cinema, art and culture in Canada and abroad.

Together with Zaza Production, the Fabienne Colas Foundation is behind 12 festivals: the highly popular Montreal International Black Film Festival, the renowned Toronto Black Film Festival, the Black Film Festivals of Halifax, Calgary, Vancouver, and Ottawa, and a number of other successful festivals in Canada, United States, Haiti, and Brazil.

These initiatives have presented and supported over 5,000 artists, bringing over 2 million festivalgoers together. The FCF is also behind the Being Black in Canada program, Canada’s largest incubator dedicated to Black filmmakers, which is presented by Netflix in collaboration with the National Bank.

My role

I worked as web administrator for the Fabienne Colas Foundation from January to December 2025, and I continue to support the foundation as an independent consultant. The foundation runs a network of websites, one for the foundation itself and others for its festivals and programs, which must stay reliable when public attention peaks during festival seasons.

What I delivered

  • Management and maintenance of the foundation’s WordPress websites
  • Creation and redesign of the foundation’s website and of related festival and program sites
  • Security hardening and backup routines across the network of sites
  • Content updates for programs, calls for submissions and events
  • SEO and performance optimization, with analytics and regular reporting
  • Technical support to the teams during international festivals and events

Managing these related websites together made it possible to share good practices across the network: a consistent structure, common security standards and a shared approach to search visibility.
