Calgary Black Film Festival (CBFF)

Description

The Calgary Black Film Festival is dedicated to giving unique voices in cinema the opportunity to present audiences with new ways of looking at the world.

CBFF’s ambition is to encourage the development of the independent film industry and to promote more films on the reality of Black people from around the Globe.

My role

The Calgary Black Film Festival brings the Fabienne Colas Foundation’s festival model to Alberta. I took care of its website as part of my work for the foundation, as web administrator in 2025 and then as an independent consultant.

The site is the festival’s main information point for filmmakers who want to submit their work and for audiences looking for screenings, so it needs accurate, up-to-date content and a clear path to the information each visitor came for.

What I delivered

  • WordPress development and webmastering of the CBFF website
  • Content updates for each edition: selection, screenings and calls for submissions
  • On-page SEO to improve the festival’s visibility in local searches in Calgary
  • Technical maintenance, security updates and backups

Working on several festivals of the same network allowed me to reuse proven structures while keeping each festival’s own identity and local audience in mind.
